Offense D+

First half: Florida had nearly 200 yards before the two sacks at the end of the half despite having almost no running game.

Second half: With John Brantley out, there wasn’t a lot of Gator offense in the second half. Jeff Driskel struggled at quarterback and Florida could not get its running game going.

For the game: Florida had a good game plan as far as the passing game went, but the inability to run the ball was costly.

Defense: D

First half: Florida’s defensive line got pushed around and Alabama had only one play for negative yards.

Second half: The Gators played well in the third quarter and maybe they got tired in the fourth when Alabama put the game away.

For the game: Alabama ran for more than 200 yards and you can’t win in this league allowing teams to do that to you.

Special teams C-

First half: Penalty on opening kickoff, Caleb Sturgis’ first miss and 70-yard kickoff return allowed. Hardly winning football.

Second half: David Lerner did a good job with the rugby-style punting and Solomon Patton looked close to breaking it on several kickoff returns.

For the game: Special teams did not make a difference in a game where Florida could have used some big plays.

Overall D

Alabama steamrolled Arkansas last week so this was hardly a stunner. It doesn’t get any easier at LSU on Saturday.
