Lake City police arrested a man Wednesday who is suspected of firing a shot after robbing another man.
Johnny B. Robinson, 20, of Lake City, was arrested by the Lake City Police Department on charges of robbery while armed, possession of a gun while committing a felony, aggravated battery and firing a gun during the commission of a felony.
The victim told police he was robbed and shot at near an ATM at the Lake City Mall on U.S. 90.
According to the victim, the robber drove up in a small, green Dodge truck. After the truck was parked, the victim said a man wearing something to cover his face got out and told the victim to hand over his money. The victim said that once he handed over his wallet, the robber fired once in his direction, then drove off.
Columbia County Sheriff's Office Deputy Slade McCardle reported finding a truck matching the description outside a motel near the intersection of U.S. 90 and Interstate 75.
Robinson was found inside one of the motel rooms, police said, and arrested after being identified by the victim.
Police Capt. John Blanchard said in a news release that the room Robinson had been using was searched. Among the items seized by police were several items connected to previous burglaries in Columbia County.
Blanchard also said Robinson confessed to Thursday's robbery and shooting after being interviewed by investigator Andy Miles.
Robinson was being held Thursday at the Columbia County jail.
