A resident of the Bel Air Apartments is accused of doing more than coveting his neighbor’s goods.
The man is also accused of stealing them — specifically a 42-inch flat-screen television.
George Maltice Mack, 21, of 636 NW 26th Ave., was arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft after a witness said Mack was spotted carrying the television out of another resident’s apartment.
According to the Gainesville Police Department, the incident happened around 3:15 p.m. Sunday, when Mack walked into an unlocked apartment.
Officer Katherine Bruce said a witness saw Mack carry the television — with a blue blanket over it — into his girlfriend’s apartment, where it was later recovered.
Mack was being held at the Alachua County jail on Monday.
