Gatorsports counts down the top 25 players in the SEC, leading right up to SEC Media Days.

Alabama junior cornerback

Why he's No. 7: Kirkpatrick has great speed, agility and natural instincts in coverage. But at 6-foot-3 and 192 pounds, it's his size that sets him apart from most cornerbacks. He can play a very physical game and match up with any receiver.

Key number: 53. Last season, his first year as a starter, Kirkpatrick was fourth on the team with 53 tackles.

Fun fact: One of the most highly rated recruits in the country, Kirkpatrick chose Alabama over Florida and Texas and got to play against both teams in the final two games of his freshman season — the SEC Championship Game and the BCS National Championship Game.
