Gatorsports counts down the top 25 games in the SEC for the 2011 season.
No. 11 Florida at LSU
When: Oct. 8, 8 p.m. ET
Where: Tiger Stadium (capacity 92,400), Baton Rouge, La.
Series history: Florida leads the series 30-24-3.
Why it's No. 11: Who can forget the recent history of this very entertaining series? The last 10 years have been split with five wins per side. Some Florida fans are even starting to consider the Bayou Bengals among their primary rivals. The last four games can be boiled down to two mythical figures — Tim Tebow, with his jump-passes and post-concussion heroics, and Les Miles, with his fourth-down bravado and back-breaking fake field-goal call. This season's tilt will be the first of a gauntlet of three straight games for Florida away from The Swamp. The talent-rich Tigers are gearing up for another run at the SEC and national championships, while UF is looking to regroup under new coach Will Muschamp. LSU is not without some weaknesses, but the widespread perception is that the Gators will have a monumental challenge under the lights of Death Valley in early October.
