Good news for the Florida baseball team as it prepares to start play in the College World Series on Saturday.
Two-way starter Brian Johnson has been cleared to play, according to a team source.
Meanwhile Austin Maddox had the hard cast removed from his left foot, is still on crutches and is day-to-day.
Johnson, the Gators' designated hitter and No. 2 pitcher, has been out with a concussion since getting hit by a throw in the SEC tournament on May 28.
Maddox, UF's first baseman and closer, injured his foot while chasing a foul ball in the Gainesville regional opener June 3.
Johnson is hitting .312 with five home runs and 27 RBIs. He also is 8-3 with a 3.66 ERA in 15 starts. Maddox is hitting .280 with six homers and 35 RBIs. He also is 2-0 with five saves and has a 0.74 ERA.
