Florida coach Billy Donovan said that forwards Erik Murphy and Cody Larson remain suspended indefinitely even though charges against them were reduced from felony burglary to misdemeanor criminal trespass.
"It's important to wait," Donovan said. "I think there is a lot of things they still have to go through. For example, there was a report or perception that (basketball manager) Josh Adel was quote-unquote the lookout. That wasn't the case.
"I'm disappointed with what's happened. I don't think those kids and their families are a reflection of what has happened. What I do think is this thing needs to get resolved, and once it gets resolved and once I find out what the resolution is I'll react from there."
Donovan also said he doesn't anticipate Florida being able to make an international trip. The Gators considered making a trip to Canada in early August, but center Patric Young and incoming freshman Brad Beal have been invited to play with USA basketball over the summer. Also, the July recruiting period would have compromised Florida's ability to run practices and recruit at the same time. Florida would have begun practices July 25 for the Aug. 6 trip.
"It just seemed like it was just too much," Donovan said. "As much as I wanted to make it happen, it's probably not going to happen for our team and that's OK."
