Florida football coach Will Muschamp decided to give his banged-up Gators a break from the grind Thursday.

He took them paintballing.

Here's what Muschamp tweeted on Thursday afternoon: “Decided to have a team building exercise today instead of meetings and lifting. Paintball for the Gators this afternoon!”

If any team deserves a break, it is Florida, which has been decimated by injuries this spring.

The Gators have so few healthy players still standing that UF's annual spring game Saturday will basically be a scrimmage. UF does not have enough players available to divide into two teams.

UF is down to seven healthy offensive linemen and only one true healthy tailback — senior Chris Rainey. The Gators are also paper-thin on the defensive line.

The injuries have become a major issue this spring, but Muschamp isn't bemoaning the fact.

“Nobody is feeling sorry for the Gators, I know that,” Muschamp said. “I don't really worry about it. (Injuries) are part of the game. You've got to adjust and move to the next deal. We'll be fine. Times like this help you build your team depth.”

The Gators will hold their final pre-spring game practice Friday. Saturday's Orange and Blue Game is at noon in The Swamp.
