Donations are being accepted by a Gainesville church to help the Newberry couple who lost their home a week ago to lightning.
Alachua County Fire Rescue officials said Phil and Sue Camp's double-wide mobile home at 9610 SW 282nd St. apparently began to burn after it was hit Jan. 25 by lightning. District Chief Ed Kennedy said the home was destroyed.
St. Michael's Episcopal Church is accepting monetary donations to assist the couple, Father Tom Murphy said. Anyone who wishes to contribute can make out a check to the church and note in the memo line that it is for the Camps. Checks should be mailed to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 4315 NW 23rd Ave., Gainesville, FL 32606.
