A school resource officer reviewing a surveillance video on Monday identified the apparent burglar and later arrested the man.

Columbia County Sheriff's Office Deputy James Finnell reviewed security camera images of Saturday's 2 a.m. burglary at Richardson Middle School. The burglar could be seen entering several classrooms and offices, according to the sheriff's office, and taking a small amount of cash before fleeing.

Finnell identified the burglar as Joshua A. Hauss, 19, of Lake City, then went to his home and arrested him. Finnell said Hauss confessed to the break-in and was arrested for burglary and theft.

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Ed Seifert said deputies are reviewing other unsolved burglaries around the county to determine whether Hauss may have been involved in them.
