Rain delays boys soccer districts

Mother Nature won out on Tuesday as heavy rain washed out the complete boys soccer district tournament schedule involving nine area teams.
At the District 4-5A tournament in Orange Park Ridgeview, quarterfinal action involving Buchholz, Gainesville and Columbia was postponed until today. Fourth-seeded Columbia will face fifth-seeded Jacksonville Wolfson at 5 p.m. followed by city rivals, No. 3 seed Buchholz and No. 6 seed Gainesville squaring off at 7 p.m. The semifinals, originally scheduled for today, will be pushed back until Thursday, with the championship game still slated for Friday at 7 p.m.
In Crescent City, Keystone Heights, the No. 3 seed will play No. 2 seed Jacksonville Bishop Snyder in a District 4-3A semifinal today at 5 p.m. The game was originally slated for Tuesday.
At the District 5-3A tournament in Newberry, a pair of semifinal games were also pushed back until today. Santa Fe, the No. 2 seed will play No. 3 seed Fort White at 5 p.m. followed by top-seeded Suwannee battling fourth-seeded Newberry at 7 p.m.
At Tallahassee Maclay, No. 3 seed Lafayette will face No. 2 Tallahassee John Paul II in a District 3-2A semifinal at 7 p.m.
