The national touring production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” rolls into the Phillips Center for three performances starting tonight. Along with the famed story between the title characters and such other memorable characters as Mrs. Potts and Lumiere, the touring production features new material in a show that was re-worked by the musical’s original Broadway creators.

Described by one reviewer as a cross between Agatha Christie meets Abbott and Costello, “The Murder Room” is a spoof of British murder mysteries now onstage in a new production at the Gainesville Community Playhouse through Feb. 6.

A University of Florida production of “The Grapes of Wrath,” including the car that takes the Joad family on their journey from Oklahoma to California, opens Friday and runs through Feb. 6 in the McGuire Pavilion’s Constans Theatre.
