In an abbreviated University of Florida Student Senate meeting Tuesday night, senators voted unanimously Tuesday night to appoint eight students as assistant supervisors of elections.
Gabrielle Biggs, Hannah Leach, Zachary Cohen, Kevin Potts, Stephen Davis, Simon Hacker, Jordan Eddy and Paige Carper all were named to assist the supervisor of elections for the Spring 2011 term.
Tuesday’s meeting was intentionally brief as it followed a lengthy meeting at the Reitz Union Auditorium between University of Florida student leaders and leaders of the city of Gainesville.
In other action at Tuesday’s Student Senate meeting, a resolution funding Students for Justice in Palestine passed on first reading.
The student group will receive $210 for a movie night, a demonstration of a Gaza checkpoint and a professor information panel.
Meantime, a resolution honoring Gabrielle Giffords, the Arizona congresswoman shot at Jan. 8 in Tucson, as well as those affected by the shooting, also passed on first reading.
