Freshman running back Mike Blakely will miss spring practice due to a shoulder injury, a source close to the University of Florida program told The Gainesville Sun on Sunday.

Blakely, who enrolled early at Florida this month, is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery Wednesday, the source said.

While the extent of Blakely's injury is unknown, he did injure his shoulder before he got on campus and is expected to participate in summer and fall practices.

The former Bradenton Manatee athlete participated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, earlier this month, but received no carries. He only recorded a kick return for 16 yards.
