You may have awakened this morning to see frost outside, but have no fear: Warmer weather is in store for Gainesville and surrounding counties, according to the National Weather Service.

After temperatures this morning that were expected to dip to between 28 and 32 degrees, forecasters said they expect a slight warming trend for the rest of the weekend, with temperatures topping 60 degrees starting this afternoon and continuing Sunday.

Temperatures will continue to fall in the mid-30s Sunday and Monday mornings, however, according to meteorologist Marie Trabert of the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday will bring slight cloud cover, a 30 percent chance of rain and a high near 70, while nighttime lows both Monday and Tuesday nights are expected in the 50s, Trabert said.

"Get out and enjoy your weekend," said Trabert.
