Thursday, a circuit court judge granted a continuance in a hearing involving a lawsuit against County Commissioner Rodney Long over credit card debt.
Circuit Judge Victor Hulslander gave Long, who is representing himself, 15 days either to produce documents requested by American Express or file an objection to the credit card company's request.
The credit card firm has won a court judgment against Long to garnish his financial assets and wages because of approximately $17,427 in unpaid credit card debt. Long filed a claim for exemption from that garnishment stating he provides more than one-half of the financial support for a child or other dependent. He has not yet filed the requested paperwork on that claim for exemption.
