More than half of the travelers planning to fly into or out of the Gainesville Regional Airport today will be grounded.
Delta Airlines has canceled hundreds of flights to and from Atlanta due to a severe winter storm. That means Gainesville's seven inbound and seven outbound Delta flights through Atlanta have been cancelled for the day, according to Gainesville airport spokeswoman Laura Aguiar.
As of 9:30 a.m., the four U.S. Air flights that connect to Gainesville through Charlotte, N.C., were all on time, Aguiar said, and the two daily American Eagle flights to Miami were operating as scheduled.
Passengers are encouraged to double check their flights with their carriers before departing for the airport.
