WEIGHT CLASS: 285 pounds
WEIGHT: 264 pounds
A rea wrestler I would pay to watch compete: Sangar Majboor from Buchholz. We went to elementary school together and are good friends on and off the mat. We have wrestled each other several different times and know all of each other's moves. So to watch him compete against somebody would be amazing.
B est movie I've ever seen?: This one has to be “300.”
C oach Ryland Wagner's best words of advice: “Those who stay will be champions.” I try to work my hardest every day just so I can be a champion.
D efeating what opponent would make me the happiest?: Well he just graduated. He's the heavyweight guy from Eastside, Davonte Williams. I must have wrestled him over a dozen times and it was always close, I just could never get there. Now, it would be Matt Pringle from North Marion. I have never gotten a chance to wrestle him yet. He won regionals last year.
E SPN's best program?: Just watching any highlights or top plays.
F inishing third in the district last year and qualifying for regionals was: Last year was my second time going to regionals and it proved to me that if I work harder and and put all of my effort into this year, I can make it to state, there's no doubt about it.
G HS's wrestling tradition means what to me when I suit up for practice or a competition?: Looking up at the wall of state qualifiers tells me, they've been there. Now I want to get myself associated with all of those great wrestlers up there.
H aving wrestled most of my competition in the past and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each athlete, I prepare myself before each match by: I try to think in my head when was the last time I wrestled them and think about how much better I have gotten since then and assume that he has gotten that good, if not better. So it is going to be a fight no matter what because we both know each other and what each other is going to do. As soon as I know who I am going to wrestle next, that's immediately when I start thinking about — what they are good at, what I may have gotten caught on and got them points on me.
I nteresting thing about me away from wrestling: I am a life scout in Boy Scouts, and I have been in several productions in the GHS drama program. One play that we did was a bit controversial called Columbinus, a play based on the shootings. We did that one on its 10-year anniversary during my sophomore year.
J ust ask me, I can tell you about: Food and how bad my knees are.
K yle Brooks's (2010 3A state champion) success last year influences me how?: I know how hard Kyle worked and how constant his work was towards wrestling. And, I know that I haven't wrestled as long as Kyle so that means that I need to work harder and keep my goal in sight at all times.
L ooking forward to competing against: Andii Wiggins from Tallahassee Chiles. I beat him (on December 11) for the Capital City Classic championship. I pinned him with like 20 seconds left, and I know it is going to be a tough fight on Saturday (at the Timberwolf Duals at Chiles High School). I also beat him in last year's regionals.
M usic I enjoy listening to: Country — Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley.
N ew Year's resolution?: State tournament. I have been working towards that for four years, and I am going to keep on chugging towards it.
O ne person in my life who inspires me most: My football coach when I was in fourth grade, Richard Saulsberry. He was my first ever football coach. He told me to never give up at sports.
P otential college major: Either medical or engineering.
Q uiet time activity: Reading a book or sitting down playing some Xbox.
R eading newspapers or browsing the Internet to get my high school sports information?: Definitely um...well both actually. The newspaper covers a great deal of the local people but if I want to find out about a team that I haven't yet wrestled, I will look them up online.
S uperstition I have: I listen to “Beat It” by Michael Jackson and “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen before each tournament. And, I have some lucky boxers that I wear every tournament. The boxers have Stewie (from Family Guy) as Cupid, with hearts all around him.
T witter or Facebook page status post?: Facebook all the time.
U niversities or colleges considering: UCF. I am signed in and have my acceptance letters and my residence all picked out. I am set to go (as a student).
V acation spot I love: I'm going to Australia this summer for three weeks. It's going to be amazing. I am going there with People to People Student Ambassador Programs.
W hat do you look for as the perfect situation before applying the cradle move?: As a heavyweight, I don't do the cradle. I do the head and arm move where the objective is to throw people on to the mat and land on them. It generally becomes the signature that the match is over. Because when a heavyweight gets thrown it knocks the wind out of them. I try to get that in there whenever possible.
X box, PlayStation or Wii?: Xbox 360 all the way. Either Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Fallout: New Vegas, or Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Y ear I was born: 1993
Z oo animal I like most: The sloth. I sleep about just as much as one of them.
