Lake City man found in closet, charged with burglary

Sheriff's deputies say a Columbia County man who forced his way into a home late Monday was found a short time later hiding in the closet of another home and was arrested on a burglary charge.
Gary Lamar Revels, 43, of 199 NW McCall Terrace in Lake City was arrested by Columbia County deputies on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
The victim told deputies that Revels knocked on the door around 11:45 p.m. and asked to speak to a woman who lived at the home. The victim told Revels that the woman was asleep and closed the door. The victim said Revels then kicked in the front door and put the victim in a headlock. The victim was able to break freem and Revels ran out of the home, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies found Revels in the closet in of a nearby home around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. It was not immediately clear why he wanted to speak to the woman. Revels was arrested and booked into the county jail without further incident.
