A University of Florida graduate died in a Colorado skiing accident on Sunday.

Sean Jared Bender, 38, skied into a tree while on an intermediate trail at the Keystone Ski Resort around 11 a.m. A preliminary autopsy report indicated that Bender was wearing a helmet and he died of blunt force trauma to his chest. His death was the fourth skiing-related death in Colorado this ski season, according to state officials.

UF officials said Bender graduated on May 2, 1998, with a bachelor's degree in political science. He went on to career as a financial advisor. At the time of his death, Bender was the chief operating officer and vice president of insurance operations for The Madison Group.

Officials in Colorado said Bender is a former longtime Florida resident and is survived by a wife and the couple's 9-month-old daughter.
