TAMPA — Former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis becoming the offensive coordinator under new coach Will Muschamp is a “done deal,” a source told The Sun on Saturday.
Multiple sources confirmed to The Sun on Saturday that Weis will run the Gators' offense and the announcement will be made Monday.
The Associated Press is also reporting Weis will be hired, according to a person familiar with the decision who spoke to the wire service on the condition of anonymity. The Sporting News first reported Weis accepted the job Saturday.
Weis is currently the offensive coordinator for the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, who have qualified for the playoffs that begin next weekend. Weis will remain with the Chiefs throughout the postseason. Weis won't go on the road recruiting at least for a week, but will be able to call recruits.
Multiple media outlets in Miami have confirmed former UF receiver Aubrey Hill will also join Muschamp's staff. Hill was the receivers' coach with the Hurricanes.
