BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis re-injured his back during practice this week and did not make the trip to Tuscaloosa for Saturday night's game against top-ranked Alabama, a source told The Sun on Friday.

Punter Chas Henry will handle field goals and former Buchholz High School kicker Brad Phillips, a freshman, will kick off.

Sturgis, who herniated a disc and suffered a stress fracture while lifting weights in early September, is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, the source said. He is 2-for-4 on field goals this season and 19-for-21 on extra points.

Phillips was not expected to make the trip to Alabama, but was called Friday to pack and accompany the team out west, the source said.

Now the Gators must find a replacement for Henry as the place-holder.
