A Gainesville man under the supervision of the Alachua Regional Juvenile Detention Center was arrested Tuesday evening after being accused of stealing a moped.
Gainesville police arrested David Lorenzo Littles III, 20, of 2502 S.E. 10th Ave., shortly before 8 p.m. on a robbery charge.
According to Officer Jon Rappa, a man riding a moped had stopped for a red light on Hawthorne Road when Littles approached him, punched him in the face and demanded he get off the moped. The victim told police he was in fear, and so he got off the moped and saw Littles drive off on it.
A short time later, Officer Kenneth Davies spotted Littles on a moped and realized that he matched the description of the robber.
Following his arrest, Littles told police that, even though he had not seen the moped owner in six or seven years, the man lent him the scooter.
Littles was booked into the Alachua County jail.
