Jehovah's Witnesses convene this weekend in Gainesville

The Fourth of July weekend means more than just fireworks for Gainesville. It's also time for the annual Jehovah's Witness convention at the O'Connell Center.
Approximately 6,500 delegates from northeast Florida and southeast Georgia churches will be in town for the convention, which will be themed "Remain Close to Jehovah!"
The convention begins Friday and runs through Sunday. The public is invited to attend any session or the entire program, which will be held in English and Spanish. Morning sessions begin at 9:20, while Friday afternoon's session starts at 1:50. On Saturday, the afternoon classes begins at 1:35 and on Sunday it starts at 1:30.
A second convention will also be held in Gainesville July 30-Aug. 1.
