TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is increasing patrols during the Independence Day holiday weekend.

From Friday morning and to midnight Monday, there will be a statewide traffic enforcement initiative focusing on violations for speed, failure to buckle up, and driving under the influence.

It's part of a national program aimed at reducing the number of traffic crashes during holiday weekends.

All uniformed FHP personnel, including people regularly assigned to administrative duties, will participate in the patrols. FHP Auxiliary and Reserve troopers will volunteer as well.
