What happened: Vanderbilt moved into the semifinals with a fairly easy win over the Bulldogs. The Commodores used a 37-28 edge on the boards to build their lead and used the three-point line to extend it. Georgia got a big game out of Travis Leslie but not much out of Trey Thompkins in a supporting role.
Turning point: With the Bulldogs hanging around down four midway through the second half, Vanderbilt freshman John Jenkins went on a run. He scored 12 of Vandy's next 15 points to give the Commodores a comfortable 59-47 lead. Jenkins made three three-pointers and was fouled on a fourth, making all three free throw attempts.
Player of the game: Let's make this co-players. Travis Leslie, who has made a huge leap from his freshman to sophomore years, scored 34 points and had six rebounds to keep the Bulldogs in the game. But it wasn't enough because of Jenkins, who finished the game with 25 points.
Up next: Vanderbillt will face Misssissippi State in the second semifinal today. Georgia finishes its first season under Mark Fox with a 14-17 record.
