CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A pygmy sperm whale that beached itself in central Florida has died.
According to Florida Today, the 11-foot male whale died Sunday morning at a Cape Canaveral park.
Brevard County Ocean Rescue assistant chief Eisen Witcher says the whale died shortly after it was reported beached early Sunday.
Teresa Mazza, a Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute biologist, says the whale probably died from natural causes. Authorities conducted a necropsy on the whale and didn't find any obvious signs of trauma.
