A 67-year-old Cedar Key man received critical injuries Friday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle on Archer Road, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man's identity was not available from FHP Saturday. FHP reported the accident happened at 12:29 p.m. on Archer Road just west of Southwest 174th Street.

FHP reported the man was driving a 2009 Harley-Davidson Dyna when, for an unknown reason, he lost control. An FHP release states the man braked and left skid marks on the road before falling onto his right side.

The man was taken by helicopter to Shands at the University of Florida, FHP stated.
