A Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday on attempted murder and robbery charges related to the Jan. 20 shooting at the Enclave apartment complex in southwest Gainesville.
Reggie L. Gill Jr., 19, of 1227 SE 19th St., is suspected of shooting Altoany Lemore Cason during a robbery in the parking lot of the Enclave, 3000 SW 35th Place, at about 2:20 a.m., according to an arrest report filed by the Gainesville Police Department.
Cason knows Gill and identified Gill as the assailant to police, later picking him out of a photo line-up, police said.
Cason told police the two struggled over the gun Gill had, that he pushed Gill away and that Gill took aim and shot him in the right calf, the report stated.
Police learned of the shooting when Cason showed up in the emergency room at Shands at the University of Florida with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.
Gill was also charged Wednesday with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Also on Wednesday, Gill was charged with burglary and grand theft for a case unrelated to the shooting. He is suspected of burglarizing an apartment, taking a television set and bank checks, an arrest report stated. His fingerprints were found at the crime scene, police said.
