WELLINGTON, Fla. — The man accused of gunning down his wife and twins sons in Wellington remains hospitalized.
Neal Jacobson is unable to make his first appearance before a judge. It's unclear if it was drugs in his system or injuries he sustained in a car crash that was keeping the 49-year-old in the hospital Monday.
Jacobson confessed to authorities to killing his wife and sons, who were to celebrate their seventh birthday on Saturday when their bodies were found in their home.
Authorities say Jacobson took off after the shootings but crashed his car and later confessed to paramedics.
At the hospital, he told a nurse he had swallowed 10 anti-anxiety pills and hoped to kill himself. A sheriff's detective arrested him hours later on three counts of first-degree murder.
