TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are heading to Florida for a town hall meeting.

Obama and Biden are scheduled for a two-hour session Thursday with the public at the Bob Martinez Sports Center at the University of Tampa. It will be their first public appearance following the president's State of the Union speech Wednesday night.

Presidents typically head out of the nation's capital after the annual speech on the health of the nation to reinforce their message with voters.

The Obama-Biden ticket carried Florida in the 2008 general election.
