A Gainesville man was arrested Friday on charges of attempted sexual battery and false imprisonment for an incident involving an acquaintance, police said.
Arrested was Keith Singleton Jr., 22, of 1139 N.E. 25th Terrace. The incident happened Friday afternoon.
A woman reported to police that she has known Singleton for several years and that they had agreed to watch a movie at a residence, an arrest report stated.
She told police that Singleton attempted to have sex with her, and that she refused, the report stated. He reportedly then began to pull down her pants.
Police said the woman told them Singleton would not let her leave. She went into the bathroom and texted her mother and a friend, telling them to call police. The report states Singleton threatened to get his gun if she didn't come out. She came out, and officers arrived, but Singleton restrained her, police said.
The two ended up back in the bathroom, and the report states that officers spent about 30 minutes banging on the door. Then the door opened and Singleton pushed out the woman.
Singleton was apprehended and later charged with attempted sexual battery, false imprisonment and battery.
