A Gainesville woman was arrested on a charge of child neglect after one of her children that she left unattended at home early Saturday morning was found trying to cross Archer Road at 3:15 a.m., according to an arrest report.
Charged was Rachel Rochelle West, 37, of 5030 SW 63rd Court, the report stated.
West is accused of deliberately leaving two children, ages six and seven, alone at her residence without supervision. During that time, the 6-year-old unlocked the front door and left in search of his mother, the report states.
He walked to 6300 Archer Road and was attempting to cross it when he was spotted by a woman, deputies said.
A deputy took both children to the home of their grandmother. The deputy then went back to West's residence and reported that she returned at 4:45 a.m.
West was charged with one count of child neglect and one count of driving without a valid license.
