KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Volunteers will switch to the opposite sideline for the 2010 season, prompting the move of 1,000 season ticket holders and some student seating.

The Tennessee bench has been located on Neyland Stadium’s east sideline since 1994, when the Southeastern Conference prohibited student seating directly behind the visiting team’s bench.

Tennessee is the only SEC school that currently seats the home and visitor bands, students and visiting fans on the same sideline. Vols officials say moving the team to the west sideline will improve communication for coaches and players.

UT will move some student seating to the end zone, lowering student seats to a flat $10 because of the league-required move. Displaced season ticket holders will get comparable seats at no added cost.
