Elam to be honored during Saturday's basketball game

Florida football signee Matt Elam, a running back/linebacker from Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer, will be announced as the state's Mr. Football award-winner on Saturday at halftime of the Gator basketball game against South Carolina.

Projected as a college safety, Elam rushed for 1,895 yards and 29 touchdowns on 193 carries and also recorded 92 tackles, eight tackles for loss, six sacks and two interceptions for the 14-1 FHSAA Class 4A state champions.

Elam already has enrolled at UF.
