PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — A Palm Beach Gardens gas station employee saved a newborn baby's life after a woman gave birth in the bathroom.

The station's cashier, 42-year-old Tammy Camp, says the mother, looking dazed, walked in early Sunday morning and asked for the bathroom key. Several minutes later, Camp and two other employees saw the woman walking back to her car bleeding with her coat in her arms. Camp says they went to check on the woman and saw the newborn, which was not breathing.

Camp took the child and cleared its throat. She called 911 and pumped the baby's arms and legs until it started to cry and breathe. Firefighters arrived and took the mother and baby girl to a nearby hospital.

The sheriff's office and state authorities are investigating the incident.
