Williston police reported Wednesday that the United Methodist church on Noble Avenue was burglarized overnight Monday, continuing a rash of church burglaries in the past six months.
Glass was removed from the door of an office and a safe was tampered with, but nothing was taken, according to a department news release.
As many as 65 church burglaries have occurred in a five-county area, including Catholic and Baptist churches in Bronson.
The Williston Police Department and Citrus County Sheriff's Office have run special details to prevent the burglaries. Williston officers have been focusing on churches in their nightly rounds.
