Gainesville-based biopharmaceutical company Oragenics will appear today on "The Balancing Act," a Lifetime Television talk show.
Linda Loren, director of marketing for Oragenics, will discuss oral health and the company's pioneering work in the field of probiotics on the show, which airs at 7:30 a.m.
"Oral health is now more and more linked to other conditions," Loren said. "As researchers discover how oral health affects overall health, they are pushing for ways to remind people about the importance of maintaining oral hygiene."
Oragenics has developed EvoraPlus, a food additive that whitens teeth, freshens breath and promotes gum health for humans made from three key probiotics, or healthy bacteria already present within the body, she said.
The organization has amassed media attention for its oral care products for both pets and humans using probiotics, according to a press release.
Oragenics also recently released Teddy's Pride Oral Care, a tasteless, odorless powder blend of probiotics that is sprinkled on dog or cat food that freshens breath and whitens teeth.
The formulas were designed by Dr. Jeffery Hillman, a researcher for the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
Oragenics products can be purchased online at http://www.oragenics.com/.
