Former University of Florida football player Wondy Pierre-Louis is expected to appear this morning in a Gainesville courtroom on domestic violence charges.
Pierre-Louis is accused kicking in the door of his ex-girlfriend's apartment and choking her early Sunday. A warrant had been issued for his arrest Sunday and while he hadn't yet surrendered to authorities by Monday night, State Attorney Bill Cervone said he expected him to do so in time to appear today on the 9 a.m. first appearance docket.
"I've been told that he will surrender some time during the night," Cervone said.
Pierre-Louis was a cornerback on the football team who recently completed his senior season. A native of Haiti, he learned that his parents are alive after last week's earthquake but their family home was destroyed.
