Man hit by bus while trying to help injured dog

PLANT CITY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says a man has died after being struck and killed by a bus while trying to help an injured dog.
According to authorities, 22-year-old John Christopher Morgan exited a vehicle on State Road 60 near Plant City in central Florida and walked onto the roadway to check on a dog that had been run over. He was then struck by an oncoming bus and pronounced dead at the scene Friday morning.
The driver of the bus has not been charged. He was not injured in the crash.
Sgt. Larry Kraus said investigators haven't determined if Morgan owned the dog he was trying to assist.
