Hollywood Police Department fires 5 in cover-up

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Five employees of the Hollywood Police Department were fired for allegedly doctoring a traffic report.
The three officers, a sergeant and crime scene technician had been on paid leave since July after a dashboard camera captured them scheming to help a colleague.
The fellow officer had rear-ended a motorist stopped for drunk driving, marking his seventh work accident since 2000. The camera recorded the officers joking how drunk the driver was and how they'd "hang her out to dry"
The police union and a defense attorney called the firings political. They have 10 days to decide on an appeal.
Prosecutors are also reviewing the case to decide on possible charges.
