Dorval takes reins as Association of Realtors president

Although Realtors compete for business, they have also become closer over the past year to help each other survive real estate market turmoil, said Carol Bosshardt of Bosshardt Realty Services.
Bosshardt and other members of the Gainesville-Alachua County Association of Realtors came together Wednesday to recognize outstanding efforts in real estate and for the association, as well as to install new officers and directors.
Joyce Dorval of Kanapaha Realty replaced Craig McCall of Prudential Preferred Properties as president for 2010 and Bosshardt replaced Patti Moser of Horizon Realty as president fo the local Multiple Listings Service.
Neely Davis of Neely Davis & Associates was named 2009 Realtor of the Year and Aaron Bailey of Gainesville360.com was Affiliate of the Year for non-Realtor members.
The awards were for outstanding service and involvement in the association. Davis was credited with the idea and implementation of the Home$ale Extravaganza open house for association members Feb. 20-21.
Among a new set of awards for commercial Realtors, Beau Beery of AMJ Inc. was named Dean of Commercial Real Estate for most outstanding overall contributions to furthering the profession.
Audley Harris of Coldwell Banker/M.M. Parrish Realtors received the Ironman Award for at least 10 years of consistent, outstanding performance in commercial real estate.
Brian Miller of SunState Federal Credit Union received the Outstanding Commercial Real Estate Affiliate award for "tremendous support" to the real estate industry.
Scott Costello of Home Magazine received the James Parrish Award for work and involvement in the community.
Darlene Pifalo of ERA Trend Realty received the Tom Dobson Award that goes to a past president who remains involved in the association.
The Gainesville Sun received the Medallion Award for its sponsorship of association events.
Barry Baumstein of Arnold Realty was recognized for 40 years of membership in the National Association of Realtors.
