MIAMI — So-called "Cougars" and the men who pursue them won't be cruising for companionship on Carnival Cruise Lines.
The Miami-based company has turned down a party planner trying to book a group of older women and younger men.
The group's travel agent says the ban is unfounded. About 300 "cougars" and "cubs" traveled without incident on Carnival's Elation in December.
Carnival says there were no problems with last month's trip, it's just a business decision. No room for groups with that "theme."
Analysts say it's meant to protect Carnival's focus on family fun. The cruise giant has strove hard to shed the hard-partying image of yore.
Their loss, party planners say. They've had no trouble booking with rivals Norwegian and Royal Caribbean.
