Registration is now open for the Kids Out of School Day Program, which entertains children between the ages of 6 and 13 when schools are out of session.
The City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs will offer sessions on Friday, Jan. 25, Feb. 12, Feb. 15 and April 12. The programs will be held at Eastside and Albert Ray Massey (Westside) Recreation Centers.
The program is an economical solution to childcare and provides children with a positive and constructive way to spend their time on days out of school, said Karen Cayson, a recreation supervisor for the department.
Participants will play games, engage in outdoor recreation and have the opportunity to make arts and crafts. The program usually culminates in a field trip, she said.
The daily fee is $5 for city residents and $7.50 for non-city residents. Registration space is limited to 25 children per location. Sessions begin at 6:30 a.m. and end at 6:30 p.m. Lunch is not provided.
Parents may register their children at the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Administrative Office, located at 1024 N.E. 14th St., Bldg. A.
The Eastside Recreation Center is located at 2841 E. University Ave., and the Massey Recreation Center is located at 1001 N.W. 34th St. For more information call 334-5067 or visit www.cityofgainesville.org.
