Fort Hood soldier from Florida dies in Iraq

WASHINGTON — A bombing in Iraq has killed a 22-year-old Fort Hood soldier from Florida.
The Defense Department on Thursday announced the death of Spc. David A. Croft Jr. of Plant City, Fla.
DOD says Croft died Tuesday in Baghdad of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised bomb and gunfire.
Croft was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, a sprawling post in central Texas.
