MELBOURNE, Fla. — A convicted sex offender has been charged with sexually battering a Florida woman while holding her captive for at least four days in her apartment.
John Burdette was in jail Wednesday charged with sexual battery, dating violence and false imprisonment.
During the ordeal, Burdette made the woman suck on his toes and lick a toilet seat in front of her son, police in Melbourne, Fla. said.
"It was graphic some of the things he had her do that was witnessed by her juvenile son," said Commander Ron Bell of the Melbourne Police Department.
It wasn't immediately known if 33-year-old Burdette had a lawyer. He was arrested Monday and was ordered held without bond Wednesday. Burdette was convicted previously of battery and failing to register as a sex offender.
Burdette met the woman New Year's Eve at her work, police said.
The woman told authorities that Burdette wanted to make dinner for her and her son, and that she gave him a key to her apartment. Once inside, he refused to leave and barred her from going out.
"The suspect was intimidating her to the point that he was controlling her phone calls, her movements," Bell said.
The woman managed to send out a text message Monday to a friend, who then alerted police officers. Police officers arrested Burdette outside a restaurant where he had taken the woman and her son.
