Man in sign holds up French Addiction lingerie store downtown

A man wearing a sign held up the lingerie store French Addiction on Saturday night.

According to Gainesville Police, at about 9 p.m. a man knocked on the locked front door and was let into the business at 819 W. University Ave. by the lone clerk on duty.

The clerk told police that the man looked at some lingerie before turning toward the clerk and opening up his jacket. Inside this jacket, the man was wearing a sign that claimed he had a gun and that the clerk should not to panic. The clerk said the man then told her not to panic, that he had a gun and that he wanted money.

When the clerk turned to open the cash register, she told police that she felt a hard object placed in the small of her back. After the clerk gave the man a small amount of cash from the register, he fled on a bicycle.
