A Gilchrist County man turned himself in Monday morning on charges he stabbed another man in the back with a butcher knife.

Trenton Police Chief Billy Smith said Christopher Autin, 38, was arrested in connection with the attack on another man at about 3:30 Sunday afternoon. Smith declined to release the name of the victim, citing the ongoing investigation, but said the man spent the night in the hospital after receiving a non-life threatening knife wound.

"This seems to have started because of a deal over a pickup, a 2004 Toyota Tacoma, that he (Autin) was possibly selling," Smith said. The $1,500 deal might have been falling apart when the stabbing happened, the chief said.

The incident took place at a home on Rowland Boulevard in the northeast quadrant of the city.
