COCOA, Fla. — A central Florida mother is mourning the death of her son in police custody at a hospital, 10 years after another son died in similar circumstances.
Forty-one-year-old Preston Bussey III died last month ago after Rockledge police officers subdued him with Tasers. His brother Vincent Bussey died at age 29 in 1999 while in police custody at a different hospital.
Their mother, Pearl Morice, says "lightning is not supposed to strike you twice."
Vincent Bussey had been arrested on a battery charge following a fight. Preston Bussey went to a hospital Dec. 19 seeking care for injured hands, and officers were called after he allegedly became combative.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating Preston Bussey's death.
