After practice in Gainesville on Sunday morning in preparation for the Sugar Bowl, Meyer met with Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley and decided to take the leave rather than resign from his job as the Florida coach.

Although it has been reported that offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will be the interim coach next year, it has not been decided and there is a possibility that Meyer will coach the Gators in 2010.

"He has to take some time off to get it together," said the source. "It's going to take some time."
